3 things you didn’t know you could do with Bromcom MIS

3 things you didn’t know you could do with Bromcom MIS

Here at Bromcom, we’re proud to offer the most featured MIS on the market. But with so many modules and innovative capabilities available, it’s understandable that some users won’t know about ALL of them. To help you get the most out of Bromcom MIS, we made a list of the most useful features that you might not know about (but really should!).

1. Enable parents and guardians to notify your school of absences

Starting in September 2025, parents can now notify schools of a pupil’s half-day or full-day absence using the parent portal MyChildAtSchool, and record absences in the MyChildAtSchool app. Parents can do this by navigating to the Attendance section of the web portal or app, and they can include details such as the dates of the absence, share a message to explain the absence, and attach files if necessary. The school then have the option to either accept or reject the updates to the student’s official absence record and the parent will be notified accordingly.

2. Manage payments from parents and guardians

Many Plus and One-Stop Shop customers still use third-party payment systems like ParentPay despite already having access to a parental payment system in their MIS. Bromcom’s Parents Payment System helps schools manage payments in MyChildAtSchool. Parents and guardians can easily and securely make payments for clubs, trips, wraparound care, dinner money, and the school shop from our web-based parent portal or the app, giving you complete control of your cashless system. And if you’re not fully cashless, you can still manage and create orders manually.

3. Send emails and SMS messages automatically based on specific triggers

Watchlists notify parents and guardians of certain events that take place in school involving their child by sending them automated emails and SMS messages. You can create watchlists based on attendance, behaviour, and if they’ve been given detentions, and can build multiple watchlists to give you quick and easy visibility into student behaviour and attendance.

We regularly release new features for Bromcom MIS based on user feedback and new advances in technology. You can find out about our upcoming releases here and new MIS releases here. If you’re a Bromcom user and have a new idea for the MIS, click here to submit it to our Ideas Portal
