Choosing Bromcom
Before moving to Bromcom, Trinitas has already switched from their legacy MIS to a cloud-based MIS provider, but soon regretted the move, says Sam.
“Our legacy MIS supplier had been promising to modernise its product and go cloud-based for many years but those promises just kept being broken. And then moving to our next, cloud-based provider was an absolute disaster for the trust – the product just wasn’t ready to be used. We knew we couldn’t stick with it.”
When the trust resumed their search for an MIS within a year of switching to this new supplier, they quickly selected Bromcom MIS, namely because it was the only MIS mature enough to cater to secondaries as well as primaries.
Moving award from third-party apps
Although Trinitas only went live with Bromcom MIS a little over a year ago, the trust and its schools are already getting rid of their expensive third-party apps having found the functionality they need is within their new system.
“We’re now at a point where the staff have started to build on their core use of the MIS, starting with getting rid of our third-party parent payment system and the system that managed rewards, sanctions, and seating plans.” Sam says. “Then we launched MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) at most of our schools which was a game-changer. Parent comms was a nightmare with our previous provider! We also found we could also get rid of our parents evening add-on. It just makes so much sense having everything under one umbrella.”
All three of our apps – teacher, parent, and student apps – have also been highly commended by the trust’s different users, according to Sam:
“Teachers love the teacher app, particularly in the secondary school – they have access to functionality they didn’t have before, all in their pocket.”
We’re also in the process of investigating a move away from their third-party safeguarding and well-being system, a significant move for the trust.
“Our safeguarding leads have been looking at Bromcom MIS for a year now and realise we don’t need the add-on anymore. We’re speaking with Richard Clutterbuck from Bromcom about the manual process of moving away from this system. They’ve been so helpful in supporting us to move away from our bolt-ons.”
As well as saving “many thousands” by getting rid of these third-party apps, Trinitas’ central team and the schools’ teachers have been very impressed with how easy the system is to use.
“Bromcom MIS makes sense compared to what we’ve used before. In our legacy MIS provider, you needed someone trained in creating reports to generate a report, for example, whereas in Bromcom anyone can do it.”
Supporting Trinitas on their AI journey
“Bromcom has been front and centre in our trust’s AI journey.” Sam says. “Next week we have a big staff conference at our secondary school which is focused on AI, and we have Richard Clutterbuck and Matt Seigal from Bromcom coming in to deliver two workshops for our staff on a range of topics, from using Bromcom AI for admin to teaching.”
Sam also shared how impressed he was by a demonstration of our new AI-powered Analytics on Demand feature at Bett 2026 which is due to be launched in the summer. This feature can quickly generate meaningful insights into your MIS data, including written data analysis and accompanying graphs, in response to prompts.
