New solution allows schools with their SIMS hosted by ESS a stress-free data migration from SIMS to Bromcom
25th October 2024: Bromcom, a leading provider of Management Information Systems (MIS) for the education sector, has today announced the launch of Migration-X, a new portal that will assist schools with their SIMS hosted by ESS, providing stress-free data migration from SIMS to Bromcom.
Schools whose data is hosted by ESS cannot provide an SQL backup to Bromcom when they want to switch and so, up to now, these schools have faced cumbersome, time-consuming manual processes that lacked the required depth of data. Bromcom’s breakthrough technology empowers schools, MATs, and Local Authorities that have their SIMS hosted by ESS to effortlessly transfer data from SIMS, eliminating the complexities and errors. Developed in close collaboration with schools facing these exact challenges, Migration-X provides a seamless, automated, and secure process for exporting crucial school data from SIMS, irrespective of hosting environment or SQL database access.
Ali Guryel, managing director of Bromcom says: “We understand the myriad of challenges that schools face and found it unacceptable that schools with SIMS do not have full access to their data backups when offboarding.”
“Working with the sector, we have developed Migration-X to tackle this final remaining issue in the market and this is testament to our dedication and commitment to developing solutions that address real-world challenges faced by schools. Whilst we consider an SQL backup migration to be the gold standard, transferring the widest scope of data, Migration-X is 100% DfE census compliant, ensuring essential data is migrated.”
Migration-X overcomes the key challenge when schools do not have SIMS SQL backups in their possession and are locked out of this process due to ESS holding these databases. Migration–X uses a combination of Report Generator and APIs to automate the process for schools, eliminating time consuming work and human error, as well as ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Exported data is automatically and securely transferred to the Bromcom Migration-X Portal, a dedicated platform designed with robust security measures to protect sensitive information.
With Migration-X, Bromcom reaffirms its position as a leading innovator and pioneer in the edtech sector, delivering solutions that empower schools, MATS and LAs and drive positive change.
